The size of a minimum paid up capital would depend on the Bank License Category and jurisdiction.
There are generally two license categories. These are:
- Category A, which allows general banking activities
- Category B, which allows banking with persons or groups specifically described in a written undertaking attached to the license application.
The minimum paid up capital starts from USD 1,000,000 (or its equivalent in another currency).
The Cayman Islands, Dominica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Santa Lucia are the jurisdictions with the lowest minimum capital requirements.
